The Ring Half of the Story: How to Choose the Perfect Engagement Ring for your Proposal

Every proposal I plan revolves around one moment: the few unrepeatable seconds when she says yes. That’s the heart of what I doand it’s the reason couples come to me in the first place-nothing about engagement ring shopping should take anything away from how much that moment matters.

But there’s a second half of the story that deserves just as much care, even though it usually gets far less of it: the ring she’ll actually be wearing afterwards. Long after the candles are packed away and the photos have been shared, that’s the part thatstays. On her hand, every single day, for the rest of her life. For many of my clients, finding a (bespoke) diamond engagement ring that truly suits their partner turns out to be quite hard. Most people are choosing a diamond for the first time in their life, with no real way to know what they’re looking at and they’d love nothing more than the same guidance and care I give them for the proposal itself.

Questions like these change everything the metal, the setting, even the shape of the diamond and they’re exactly the kind of thing that gets worked through properly in a private appointment, rather than rushed on a lunch break in Hatton Garden.

Please, Don’t Leave It Until the Last Minute

If there’s one thing I’d beg every client to take seriously, it’s timing. I can pull off an extraordinary proposal in twoweeks if I absolutely have to. A genuinely bespoke ring,sourced and made properly, can’t be compressed the same way and trying usually means compromising on the stone, the design, or both.

Start the ring conversation early, even if the proposal itself is still months off. It takes the pressure off everything else.
